District 13 is not the sequel to District 9

Happy Holidays my fellow "Aww Yeahhh" bloggers and readers! Here's a neat trailer to keep you warm for the holidays.

"District 13: Ultimatum" is the follow up to the hit action French movie "District 13" aka "Banlieue 13." Bri and I were fortunate to catch the first film during a limited release in San Francisco. Impressive action overall. Parkour, the physical discipline of training to overcome any obstacle within one's path by adapting one's movements to the environment, is still a legit sport. What I didn't realize before, the film "District 13" stars the founder of parkour, David Belle.

"Jacket off" blood....

Yet another in a long line of 80s remakes. I heard about this film a while ago. Not sure if it's something I would go and pay for but regardless, this looks like a film that will be replayed at my work like 100 times.

Gotta love that risk taking Hollywood movie machine.

While we're waiting for....

....we do have other things to watch.

Who knows if this will be any good? And who cares!

I wonder if they can have a special showing in the Bay Area or at Roid's house?

Can I get a O-Munn?!

... as in Olivia Munn! Just want to share a lil' behind the scenes of her upcoming Maxim photo shoot. And um, Happy Holidays everyone! When are we going to Hooters?!

The Worst NBA Franchise this decade is.....

No no no not the Clippers. Its yes the Golden State Warriors. According to SI and probably every NBA fan, 'The Warriors had an energized fan base and a big-spending owner in Chris Cohan, which only made the endless dysfunctionality all the more bitter.' Hey the W's are number 1 at something at least.

Who dat!

Man loses his 60" tv when he lost a bet when the Saints beat the Patriots.
Holy. Now if the Warriors win the championship this year I think I'd probably have my plasma shot as well.

If the Warriors/Niners won the championship this year what would you lose in a bet?

Why Manny???

After reading about Mayweather agreeing to fight Pacman this spring, Manny has apparently wants to push the fight into the summer/fall to focus on running for a congressional seat in his home province in May. I don't know about this idea, Mayweather might move on fight other top contenders and disregard probably the greatest fight of this generation!!!!!
I know Pacman cares about helping his province out by doing lots of charity work and giving out numerous donations but I think he should just try to put his focus on boxing since he's on top of his game. He should just run for office when he retires from the sport and let experienced politicians deal with politics of the Phillipines for now.
Well at least he has a future after boxing but do not commit to your future plans today because he's still pretty good at his present job

Smith vs Rodgers

Tale of two QB's!

I'm tired of watching Smith stink it up with constant 3 and outs!! With only 5 yards passing in the first half, I really need the niners to draft a QB in the 1st round this upcoming draft.

What I don't like about Smith's game.

- He only does good outta the shotgun. Seriously, this ain't the run and shoot. My QB needs to come out from under snap. Plus, the only running plays outta the shotgun are draws, the niners best player on O(Gore) needs a to take handoffs from the snap.

- He locks on to players. I've seen him look to Vernon and continue to throw to him
even though he's triple covered. Compared to Rodgers who goes through his progressions and moves onto the next receiver when ones covered.

- The balls he throws are more of desperation as opposed to be pinpoint. It's funny as soon as I wrote this, Crabs got his first TD. Congrats Crabs, but if you look at the ball, it was more of a jumpball play that Crabs beat the DB on as opposed to a clean ball that only Crabs could catch. \

I could go on and on with Smith's deficiencies but it's something to discuss as my laptop battery life only lasts 4 hours.

I don't watch must college ball but if Bradford of Mccoy are there when the niners pick, then yeah Git r' done!

Ah, beautiful downtown SF...

has just about everything.

Plenty of trendy shopping. Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Great places to eat. Kris Aquino's Moscone Center. Crowds of people. Noise. Excitement.

But all this time, something was missing...

Target. Yes, Target.

As reported by The Chronicle/SFgate, preliminary discussion has begun with Metreon owner Westfield about the possibility of a Target on the building's second floor.

As could be expected, this move will most likely be blocked (or at least delayed) much in the same fashion as Home Depot (now coming soon Lowes) in Bernal Heights.

I for one am a Target shopper and do like the chain. Yet, I find it difficult to imagine a Target at the Metreon location or surrounding area.

This does follow a trend previously discussed with Roid; 20 years from now there will only be 3 stores. Costco, Walmart and of course Target (geez, not even a Ross?!).

No malls. No specialty stores.

Metreon, the site where I've watched great films, ate good food, got hit on by Eliza Dushku

(well sorta), bought the latest Japanese Anime and even went clubbin'....will maybe become a Target.

Not bad. Just odd.

Golden State of Emergency

(as seen first seen via email)

You know, I was ready to completely disagree with Extenze-licious here but I've reconsidered. Maybe we got this all wrong.

Maybe we never should have traded Jack. Maybe we shouldn't trade Monta. Maybe we shouldn't trade anyone. Like ever again.

No one is allowed to leave. Keep them all. Make this unwatchable and unlivable. Let them fight each other and talk their shit. Let the media feast on them like vultures. Let the Oracle decay into a post apocalyptic vision only seen in Mad Max films (and a Tupac video).

Fans...hell, people will disappear. Let this all go to hell. Watch it all burn to the ground.

Maybe then Cohan-job and his horror show will escape through a black hole (not necessary in a Raider sense) never to be seen again.

We will then (maybe decades later) fondly dream of the day that an actual NBA team in the Bay Area will exist similar to the LA Clippers.

But until then....

Monta for Gay would be good. But will never happen. Monta for David Lee would be good. But will never happen.

The Jackson trade is probably the barometer for all trades going forward (i.e. Monta for the likes of Delonte, Wally, Ilguaskas, Duhon, Telfair, Foyle, etc. ).

Bosh or anyone like that wont come here regardless of cap room (or via trade).

In the end, I really don't care who we trade or lose. With Team Cohan we will always lose.

Larry Ellison is not walking through that door.....is he?

-bri

p.s. Wow, I'm in a odd mood.

Tastes like Curry

cool read in the NY times about Steph.

".....In their season opener against Houston, the Warriors (2-4) were trailing by 3 points in the final seconds when Curry grabbed the rebound of a teammate’s missed 3. Ellis was open on the wing, and clamoring for the ball, but Curry was not sure he had time to make the pass.

After a moment’s hesitation, Curry made a layup to make the Warriors’ margin of defeat a point, and walked off the court with Ellis glaring at him. During a recent show on KNBR-AM, the Warriors’ flagship radio station, callers said that Ellis, when he brings the ball upcourt, seldom passes to Curry."

------

Shoot man. It's going to be a long season. I was looking over the fantasy the other day and saw J richs stats and wondered how different our team would have been if that trade didn't go through. Or if we were able to get Garnett.

Those creative folks at ESPN's "Page 2" decided to redesign some pro sport team logos to illustrate their current performance.

In Warrior News...

ESPN's "Weekend Dime" state that the Charlotte Bobcats are the most likely location for former team captain and rain maker Stephen Jackson.

The deal could be: Borris Diaw for Turiaf and Jack

But really....

The deal would more likely be: Nazr Mohammed, Vladimir Radmanovic for Jack and/or Acie Law and/or Devean George.

It continues to be a great time out.

A Golden State Filipino: Raymond Townsend

While many of us are finding ways to protest the awful W's this season, let's take a look back, way back, to the pre-Great Time Out days and recognize a Warrior from our own backyard... or in this case, blood. Could it be, an NBA Filipino basketball player? Yes, his name is Raymond Townsend (not to be confused with Robert Townsend, the actor).

Raymond Townsend was born in San Jose in 1955. His mother is Filipina. He played 4 years at UCLA under the legendary John Wooden and was given All-American honors in his senior year. In the 1978 NBA Draft, Townsend was drafted 22nd in the First Round by the Warriors- his NBA career lasted for 4 years, ending with the Indiana Pacers, and later playing overseas.

With the rise of "Filipino Heritage" events throughout professional sports, Townsend is looking to be an ambassador for the NBA and Filipino communities. His current endeavor is the Filipino Hoops and Heritage Night Tour which begins with the LA Clippers. Yes, the Clippers.

Yes, I'd like a tall Cap'n Crunch Frap!

Hello fellow Aww Yeahhh-sters, it's been a minute since my last post. Here's a new site that is starting spread amongst local foodies. Check out HiddenMenu.com. In fact, the site's author came to Poleng Lounge about 2 weeks ago to taste our "hidden" aka secret menu items- from Bangus to Grilled Gizzards. Some of the coolest "hidden menu" items listed are from Starbucks (Cap'n Crunch Frappuccino) and Pizzeria Delfina (Fried Meatball Calzone).

Warriors Fans Should Do This Too!!!!

You hate how the W's management(well mismanagement is a better word) are running their organization to the ground as usual, well why not protest like how the Cleveland Browns fans are doing. Maybe by doing this, Cohan will actually care that the W's are doing bad or just care at all.

Read to Acheive

ESPN's Page 2 contributor, Bill Simmons aka "The Sports Guy" has a book due out on October 27. If you haven't read any of his columns then I suggest reading it soon. The guy has a sense of humor like most of the contributors on this blog. He uses references not only in sports but also pop culture as well as movies of the past(Karate Kid for example), hottie celebrities, and even the Madden video game. It's like he's one of us!!
The title of the book is "Book of Basketball" which 'explores the NBA with hilarious insight and brilliant analysis. It's not just a tribute to hardwood heroes, but also a celebration of yelling at TV sets, revering lucky jerseys, and holding our breath until the final buzzer sounds.'

Well got that description of the book from amazon but if you guys have time want to 'read to acheive' this is one to recommend. Also here is his latest column in which he mentions the great warrior owner known as Chris Cohan. Happy Reading!!!

Warriors Fans Should Do This

Check out what the fans of the Buffalo Bills are doing to show their frustration with the team. Maybe warrior fans could put something like 'Chris, don't piss us Warriors fans again just sell them damnit'
It's just a matter of time that fans @ Oracle will start looking like this if Cohan-job doesn't sell!!!!

Pho Garden 'Challenged'

How to (b)eat the Pho Garden Challenge..

1.) Plan out your victory picture pose.

2.) Use a folk and roll up a much noodles as you can with it. Blow that shit down till u think you can hang with the temperature. That shit is fuckin' hot (temperature wise). Don't ask for ice on the side to throw into that shit. You don't want that shit cold hella quick.

3.) Follow number one and take enough time. Don't rush. Just get rid of the noodles before anything else.

4.) After most of the noodles is done. Eat the meatballs. That shit isnt good at all and if you eat it last, you'll regret it for sure. It's not fully cooked and it's hella chewy in a rubber way. If it's still hot, it can be easily be chewed. But if it's cold. it's like eating a straight up baseball mitt. Yes - 'cowhide'.

5.) Go for everything else and, like number two, don't rush. You should of hit the 35-40 min mark by now.

6.) This is where you start talking your shit before hitting the finish line. It'll help get your mind off the feeling of getting full. Keep in mind that the waiter/waitress will come out after and stir out any little bit of leftover hidden in the bottom of the bowl with some 'net' into another bowl and have you finish that shit to confirm your membership.

7.) Pose for the victory picture you rightfully deserve.

My homegirl, her friend and myself simultaniously conquered the Pho Garden Challenge and at the same time broke the previous table record - duh - from 2 in the same table to '3'. Neither of us even expected to finish half our bowls to begin with.

-Chris killed it in 30 mins. Rushed it and suffered like resting around a toilet during a hangover. But with the pho bowl.
-May in 45 mins. Very slow at first. Gave up in the middle. Hit nitrous at the end. She was seeing stars and ready to sleep for the day.
-Me - 55 mins. Not as full as everyone else cuz I did it the smart way. And able to beat May's daughter in a speedwalk race right after.

The current speed records for the P.G.C. is 15 mins and 19 mins.

And now your....

San Jose Kings????

Hopefully Stallion will explain in FULL detail but until then...

The San Jose Mercury has reported that San Jose city leaders are pushing to acquire the Sacramento Kings.

This is definitely the result of a few things:

1) The Kings have been pushing for a new stadium for some time now. Sacramento leaders don't wanna give them one. (What's wrong with a stadium that has several liquor shot bars in each section!)
2) The Warriors have territorial rights to San Jose (and used to play there) but are becoming less and less desirable as we speak. So "Go F*ck Yourself Golden State."
3) The Kings Cheerleaders are FANTASTIC. San Jose must surely miss their Sabrekittens.

I'm not sure if I believe in this (kinda like Warrior management) but I am curious to see what transpires.

Aptly titled "Chinatown Muni Fight"

For some of those who haven't heard about the latest in infamous SF Muni situations goin' today, some fight caught on video that started from some lady who was hoggin' 2 seats and wouldn't give the 2nd seat up to another lady who was askin' nicely if she can sit on that other seat occupied by the other lady's purse or someshit.

Still looking....

for a good gym or workout regime.

I recently spoke with D-Rail The Stallion and he was debating which dojo would be join. Fight & Fitness? Team USA?

Many fitness mags also recommend creating a workout that does not include a gym (and thus avoiding the fees).

I recently tried out the infomercial workout P90X and was sore for days.

Let's not forget the "Thug Workout" as well.

From what you can see, there are many options. Honestly, maybe too much.

But, I saw an old friend's FB post today. She found a truly unique workout. Unique, odd and probably offensive.....to someone.

Speaking of...

hair raising. I just think this is funny. That's all. Hopefully this isn't the start of a Head & Shoulders jinx.

"Paranormal Activity" coming soon to theaters

Check out the trailer of this new independent horror film- Paranormal Activity. It has been getting really awesome buzz- almost too much in some way. It's like the new "Blair Witch Project." There's another trailer out there that features audience reactions to show genuinely scary it is.

Of course, since I'm not a fan of supernatural horror films, you can tell me the ending if you see it (Bri and Ed).

The 'new' New Nightmare..

When I first read about this, it was right before the new Friday the 13th came out in theatres and that Robert Englund was going to maintain his role as 'Freddy'. Thanks to an email from 'Alvin', he had sent out a link to the new Nightmare On Elm Street movie with a 'new Freddy'. Jackie Earle Haley who played 'Rorschach' (from the Watchmen movie) is a 'solid' choice. Can't think of anyone currently in Hollywood who can 'fit the claws' at this time. The trailer still looks cool. I'll still watch it no matter what.

And for those who really care, I got 1 word for all yous - "SuperStreetFighterIVSpring2010"

As seen on Facebook....

Special K: Warriors training camp starts today.....so how will the front office mess up the young talent and vets on the team this season??

bri: With the greatest of ease.
Pussy Galore: by entering another year of 30-52 and getting the 10th pick in the draft.

Special K: I know they will, its just how!!! Any thoughts??

bri: Ok, first the players and coaches will show up....
bri: then suddenly, awful.
bri: Then the regular season starts. They win a game or two. You think to yourself "Hmmm they might be good".....
bri: then suddenly, awful.
bri: Then they miss the playoffs, make a trade and draft a promising young player. Then the players and coaches show up.....(go back and re-read the above and repeat).

Special K: Hopefully Captain Jack will introduce himself to Curry like this.....

That should make Curry aware of the great off the court activities he does!!!!

N8 Still Owes me 20 bucks: Reports come out that Jackson still wants to be traded.

bri: Nice work Steve, you're much easier to trade after you bail after the first year of your contract and remind potential suitors that you don't regret pounding on fans in Detroit....

Again, re-read the above.

Special K: You forgot the part where the basketball experts say that the Warriors will make playoffs because they have great young players and good nucleus. Then the the season starts and suddenly, awful!!!!

N8 Still Owes me 20 bucks: cuz he's stack jack. "please respect this when you see this texas on my necklace"

Reports come out that Ellis feels that the W's cannot win if he is sharing the same backcourt as Curry.

Special K: Thx N8 for the great warrior news. Whoa all that drama in training camp and its only the first day....sounds like another great season for the W's.

The League

I was up watching a re-run of "That 70s Show" and saw a commercial for the up-coming FX show "The League".

"The League" is a half-hour comedy from producers Jeff Schaffer (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld) and Jackie Marcus Schaffer (Disturbia). "The League" revolves around a circle of friends involved in a fantasy football league.

I always thought that "The League" commercials for ESPN Fantasy Football (a few years ago) were entertaining enough to be made in to a sitcom. But far can a show with this premise go? Might be worth a watch while it lasts.

A 'real' Gundam in Japan!

All I have to say is that, 2 days ago, I was fuckin' lit and ended up at Border's @ Stonestown lookin' at the current magazines out and happen to stumble on a mag w/ a life size Gundam statue in it. I was so lit, this kid was just staring at me doing an impression of . . ME (a blank stare w/ eyes wide open). I just remembered 'bout that shit right now.

For more, look @ http://www.bamkapow.com/post.phtml?pk=3413

And I have to say that I haven't seen the early blog messages here but if you guys ever do a personal blog awards type thing here that I'd like to nominate Earl's smiley face dude video as a Post Of The Year candidate. The feeling of watching that shit was like interupting a cociane storting session.

Sports Cards & Collectibles Show at Serramonte Mall this weekend

I remember as a lil' kid going to Serramonte and Tanforan to check out these baseball card shows. Dozens upon dozens of tables filled with sports cards and other cool stuff. Unfortunately I don't collect as much as I used to and the collectibles market is just saturated. However, I still don't mind going to these shows just to see what's hot and not nowadays. So if ya'll are in town, stop by Serramonte for the Fall Sports Card and Collectibles Show and feel like a lil' kid again- except without stealing.

Oh and one thing, former Import and Playboy model Flo Jalin will be there so you can relive your Hot Import Nights memories and East Meets West Calendars (shout out to Tower Records and photographer Kim Mizuno).

This IS Aww yeahh

It's a way of life and this guy gets it.

Some thing tells me that he'd fit in with us.

So I'm lookin for new dances...

...for next week, and I find this.

Basically, these ESL teachers in Korea love K-pop and made a video showcasing some of their favorite K-pop dances.

The vids kinda long (aww yeahh), but 1:17 looks pretty easy and is my favorite.

Maybe we can do one of these dances instead of the electric slide.

That's it!!!

First it was El Chupacabra. Now this. I wanna see the Tooth Fairy and the Loch Ness Monster NOW!!!

Just in case you missed it, monsters and mysterious creatures exist. And apparently it existed in Panama. Existed. Past tense.

The "Montauk Monster" as it is being called was beaten to death by a group of teens who saw the slimy, hairless creature come crawling out of a cave in the city of Cerro Azul. Surprised no one decided to eat him. Someone always wants to do that (see: rare sharks, Filipinos).

In any event, I sorta feel sorry for it. But, I don't really blame the kids if they were really scared (though if they just ran away, no one would've believed them...so KILL IT!?!?).

Still, it would've been nice to see it alive. If there was one. Maybe there is more.

Bye Cow Palace??

Like all responsible adults I get my news from....Facebook?

Apparently, the Cow Palace is up for sale again. Once sold, the land can be used for just about anything from housing to landfill.

There is a movement to save the Cow Palace but given the current economic climate and other factors it wouldn't surprise me if this is it.

All I can think of are the many events (mostly wrestling) that I've seen in that very arena. Kinda sad but commonplace.

So that led me to a conversation with my co-worker and an idea. I guess I should go there one more time. One more event. Bring a camera. Film something. Just in case.

I wonder what's comin' up....wait...Ed posted a great idea....

Galavanting With The Stars!

Ok, even I can't ignore the amount of Filipino dancin' on this season's "Dancing With The Stars".

This season Marc Dacascos (of Only The Strong, Crying Freeman, Brotherhood of the Wolf, The Crow: Stairway To Heaven and Iron Chef fame) is dancing with hottie SYTYCD winner Lacey Schwimmer.

In addition to Marc, the Bay Area's own mestiza Gold Medalist, Natalie Coughlin dances with European John Basedow look alike Alec Mazo.

When you add them to mix with the always smokin' resident mestiza dancing machine, Cheryl Burke, you're half way to a family reunion at Coyote Point.

Not sure if this show is on any of your radars but it's a fav of mine.

What do yall think of Craptree

I was excited when he dropped to us. Now, I think he's a friggin bum.

He's asking Heyward Bey money and he doesn't deserve it since he ain't proved shit in the NFL.

He's supposed to make X amount due to the NFL slotting pay scale.

Man, I wish someone would knock some sense upside his head.

Singletary even talked about how he held out and missed about a week of practice because he felt he was a 1st rounder ( he was taken in the 2nd). So Sing can relate to this beyotch.

I'd have to say Michael Craptree is the biggest douche-tard in the NFL. Yes, surpassing TO.

What's for dinner? Ohhhh nooo...

I've dared myself to post this oddity and I'm so sorry for turning off any fellow foodies (of just anyone in general) out there. There is a cookbook out there called "Natural Harvest: A Collection of S*men-Based Recipes." I will admit that I bought this book as a "gag gift" for my co-worker at Poleng because he didn't believe there was such a thing. Turns out to be the best gift he's ever received. No I didn't try to make any recipes and God forbid I do.

Although I'd figure this would also make a great wedding gift... ahem.

Female Fury II coming to Kezar Stadium

No fellas, it's not a video game... Just for all ya'll interested in some homegrown MMA, I've been hearing some good buzz about World Combat Sports Challenge events. This one is all female. You can probably say "Aww Yeah!", but probably not in front of their faces.

So in an all-female fighting event, do you have Ring Girls or Ring Guys?

Don't call it a comeback

Michael Jordan unretiring....
Brett Favre comimg back...
De La Hoya and Mayweather coming out from their sofa's....
Jerry Rice coming back for this 22nd seasons....

ain't got nothin' on what's opening back up...!!!!

The new and improoooveed,....

I don't think you'll be able to guess what it is by reading the labels below either. Shame on you if you do get it right becuase you are a dirty, dirty, dirty old man.

The real betel juice.

http://www.amusingplanet.com/2009/09/betel-nut-beauties.html

Betelnuts girls in Asia where they slang nuts, I know I can relate.

Kinda similar to the Viet coffee shops. It's just a matter of time when they open one at Westlake.

Bye Dalton...

I was saddened to hear that Patick Swayze has passed away recently.

I am a fan of his many films: Road House, Ghost, Point Break, Donnie Darko, Next of Kin, The Outsiders and Dirty Dancing.

I will remember him for his versatility. Not many actors can provide drama, comedy, dancing and action in one package.

So, I decided to post some of what made me smile. See ya Dalton.

Nov. 14 will be an important date for Filipino Fight fans

Just to give you guys a heads up on upcoming fights. With Pacquaio going head to head with Miguel Cotto on Sat, Nov.14. It was just announced that on the same night, Brandon "The Truth" Vera will throw down with Randy "The Natural" Couture as the Main Event of UFC 105. UFC 105 will be held on Nov.14 in Manchester, England. Even Though it will be on PPV in Europe, It will be free here and air on Spike TV.

This Could be a huge win for Vera and actually shoot him up the rankings in the Light Heavyweight division.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Enjoy the fights!

Team Taylor....

I know enough people are pissed about Kanye hatin' on Taylor Swift but, I for one am really ticked.

I actually thought that all the previous Kanye whining was somewhat amusing up until now. Up until now he was upstaging adults who could handle it. Now he decided to humiliate a young lady who was genuinely surprised at her good fortune.

Kanye uses the mostly tired excuse of "keepin' it real" to explain his actions. Fine. But, write a blog or something ("Single Ladies" was a cool video but dang). Do you have to pick on the kid?

Kanye also stated that in the past he gave up awards that he didn't deserve (i.e. Outkast). Great. Not all artists must subscribe to your thinking.

I dunno. Somehow I found this truly mean. What if that could have been my kid? I would've killed that guy. It's disappointing especially because I am a Kanye fan. This makes this more difficult.

What a Diva. He should join Paula Abdul on that show later this week.

"So I'd like to tell Taylor, keep your head up. We'll roll with you."

Fantasy Football Week 1!

Ah, a great Sunday spent watchin' games (and the MTV Video Music Awards) and stressin' over Fantasy stats. I do love this stuff.

Prior to the draft, E(xtenze)-Licious attempted to get OL stats in Fantasy Football but with no luck. But, apparently there is a whole new league for just such a thing.

As reported by SFGate.com, fans of the OL (and DL) now have a Fantasy Football league called "Trench Fantasy Football".

"A big sexy man. An Offensive Line Man." -Bubba Paris

"Trench" is sponsored by ex-NFL Greats (and pretty goods) like Ronnie Lott, John Randle and Brentson Buckner. Yup, Brentson Buckner.

Pretty cool idea. The only problem is that it's $15 bucks per team. Here's to hoping that Yahoo eventually incorporates OL in the future.

Ed-209 is sorry..

..for triggering the adult content warning. I don't know if it was manually put on or popped up automatically all due to the Francine Dee vid. But I am sorry. It's like turning AWW YEAH into FUCK YEAH.

"Was your balls cuffed correctly?.."
