Add This to Your Jersey Collection

I was browsing the giants site and found out that they gonna bust out with an alternate jersey this season. Its similar to the one the giants mascot Lou Seal is wearing on here. Here is the new alternate jersey. First the W's and now the Giants have orange jerseys, hopefully the bay area football teams and the sharks will have one as well so they could all look like caltran workers. Have a great orange day!!!!

Goodbye Poleng Lounge...

Hey guys, just wanted to pass the word that Poleng Lounge will be closing its doors this month. I know it's sudden news, but news of its closure has been circulating for some time. Here's some brief words from our Co-Owner, Desi Danganan:

Change happens quickly in the new year, and change happens unexpectedly. Today, I have the unfortunate duty to announce the wind down of Poleng Lounge. 2009 was a rough year and 2010 promises to be a better year. With that in mind, we're packing our bags and saying goodbye to 1751 Fulton St. and on to new projects across the Bay Area and beyond.

In 3.5 years, we took a legendary night club space and transformed it into our vision of a 3rd space for people of like minds to mingle and enjoy loose leaf tea, exotic asian street food, artisan cocktails, and the best of underground music and nightlife. To our surprise we racked up critical acclaim for our take on asian food (in particular Filipino). We were quickly named one of the Top 10 restaurants in 2006 and remained in the Top 100 a few years afterwards.

Most importantly, we made lifelong friends along the way! We have co-workers, dj's and promoters that we think of as family, and a whole host of vendors, foodies, neighbors, and supporters we'll surely miss.

Last call for food is this Sunday, 1/17/10. We'll be running 1/2 off Wine, Sake, and Shochu all week or until we run-out.

Last call for Drinks and Nitelife is Sunday, 1/31/10. Stay tuned for our schedule of month long closing parties.

Speaking for myself, it has been an awesome pleasure working there. Although I did start our as a busser/ runner, I was fortunate to make my way up as a "lead" server. Working in a restaurant is definitely not the easiest of jobs. With a passion for food and people, I've learned some valuable experience. I definitely have much more appreciation for the independently owned eateries out there. It's not the "end" for sure. I'll miss my co-workers and regulars for sure. Looking at the picture posted above, that's the bar corner I sit at after a long night of work- having a simple drink (or a shot) and people watching.

I look forward to whatever new endeavors our Poleng owners have in store. If not, I still plan to work in this industry one way or another. Thanks to all of ya'll for supporting Poleng over the years (even if you passed out or got kicked out).

Awww Yeahhh,
