I knew I loved you... Ong Bak 2: The Beginning

Finally, our fave Muay Thai action star Tony Jaa is back with Ong Bak 2: The Beginning. You can view the teaser trailer here on Apple.

Judging from the trailer, this looks even more bad-ass. The synopsis is nowhere related to the first Ong Bak. The film is coming out this Fall, but in the meantime, you can enjoy some more Tony Jaa action with this lovely YouTube clip.

No Crabs??

So it looks like first round pick (10th overall) Michael Crabtree is considering sitting out the entire season and re-entering the NFL Draft next year. Of course, the source is not Crabtree himself. Instead it's his cousin. Ok...that's realiable.

His reasoning is anyone's guess. The Niners are terrible? Candlestick is stinky? Coach Singletary keeps dropping his pants??

The more likely reason is that Crabs thinks he was at least better than being the second WR drafted (see: Darrius Hayward East Bey). Which probably means that he wants to be paid like it.

I prefer a rookie salary system much like the NBA's. Though they may be the only league like that, the NFL could or should look into it.

What is the United Football League?

Your guess is as good as mine. The newly formed UFL has announced its "premiere" season schedule. Some of you may know that Dennis Green ("They are who they thought they were") is San Francisco's team coach. I'm pretty open to checking out a game depending on who they sign.

Since there's no official name for the San Francisco team yet, any thoughts to what it could be? SF Rainbows? SF Stunnas? SF Demon City Spiders?

Glamour Shots by Elish

Elish:Okay, turn your head on more of a slant...
[Kris, Bri, and Elish turn their heads in a slant]
Elish: Now, make a fist. Slowly ease it up underneath your chin.
[all three slowly ease up fists under their chins]
Earl: This is looking really good.
Kris: You can say that again.
[Bri acknowledges]
Elish: Kay, hold still right there. Now, just imagine you're weightless, in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by tiny little seahorses.
[Kris and Bri picture it and give a gleaming look at the camera]
Elish: [takes the picture] That was the one. I think that's gonna come out really nice.

Romantic Monday night dinners.

Only in Oakland

What is it with cops and the public in Oakland?

The fan may have been belligerent toward the police, and we don't know what was said, but I didn't see any threatening gestures.

By the way, who won the game!?

Top 100 Slang Terms

As if you folks didn't know how to talk like you're from the "Yay."

Well, actually, I don't know most of these words, just some from high school, so I'm surprised the "lingo" hasn't changed much since the 90's.

Tiger Woods unleashes at the Buick Open

CBS microphones caught Tiger Woods at the deep moment during the Buick Open. Silence please.

NBA Schedule is out

The NBA schedule is out with the season starting on October 27. Note that November 8 is the Kings vs. Warriors @ Arco. Do we have the itch for another trip to the Sac....awww yeah!!!!

Pho yo couch!

Some real man vs food action right here.

Anyone down to try this? I'm debating, not master.

Leinart? Uh...Lionheart??

From the "I Guess" department comes a recent report I read on Yahoo Sports about former number 1 pick Matt Leinart training MMA.

Lienart apparently wants to shed the notion (and probably some pounds) that he's is not both mentally and physically tough to be a winner in the NFL (he has to now battle for the Cardinals back-up QB position against third year pro Brian St. Pierre). So, to remedy this, he cross trains with MMA fighters like Jay Glazer. Yup, that Jay Glazer (1-1 MMA record).

Will this all help give him the competitive edge? Time will tell. There is always hope that he can step into the cage with Alex Smith. This is something the mighty UFC can't give us.

Seriously?

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Outside of a couple songs (that I can't think of right now), the originals are always better. I truly feel this is the case with this rendition.

Why Fedor will be known as side show freak instead of "the Last Emperor"

So, here is some ground breaking news today. Fedor Emalienko has sign a co-promotion deal with San Jose MMA promotion Strikeforce. This in my opinion is a a Very bad move for both sides. The details of this deal involves the one thing that M-1 Global was asking for from the UFC and that was to co-promote with UFC. Luckily Dana White had enough business sense to not let these punks ride on UFC's coattails to get a piece of the MMA pie.

For Strikeforce on the other hand, Scott Coker made a huge mistake signing Fedor. Like I metioned in a reply or comment before, that Strikeforce is the ECW of MMA, There just a small time promotion who will always put out a good product and not overpay their fighters. They are a solid company who doesn't get in anyone's way and mind's their own business. But with Fedor in the picture he will destory a good thing all because of who represents him, M-1 Global.

For those who don't know M-1 Global is the microscopic MMA Promotion owned by not only Fedor Emelianenko but his manager Vadim Finkelstein, Who is pretty much is a scum bag, and Wherever these guys do business they manage to have the company go bankrupt or fold. Does anyone remember Bodog fights? OR lets go more recent with the Affliction Promotion. That was also co-promoted by M-1 Global. Granted they overpayed their fighters but there's no more Affliction (Also, lets thanks Josh Barnett for that too!). Anything that M-1 Touches is poison and the worst part is that they only have 1 Bargaining chip and that's Fedor Emelianenko. It's like M-1 Global is a one trick pony. That's just Sad cuz everyone bites on this.

SO, here's some advice to Scott Coker and the rest of Strikeforce, Don't let M-1 Take over. There are just like Crabs, those guys will never go away. It will be nice to see Fedor Headlining a couple of Strikeforce shows but looking at the Strikeforce roster there are only 3 legitmate fighters ( Alistair Overeem, Febricio Werdum, & Brett Rogers) that he could get in the cage with. How sad is that. Dana White offered Fedor almost everything to fight in the number 1 promotion in the world and a chance to compete against the best. But that will never happen because M-1 global and Finkelstein are greedy punks who leach on people who put their blood , sweat, & tears to help promote MMA. I'm not no rocket Scientist but M-1 Global has no business sense or have any love for MMA. There in it for the money and you know who pays the ultimate price? Fedor Emelianenko. It seems to me that he will live up to his nickname of "the Last Emperor" but his empire will consist of him scouring the earth fighting against side show freaks, and journey men heavyweights. Sure Barnett will be looming around in Japan for him to fight but after that who's next? This is how Fedor will be remebered and I don't think for one second a warrior like Fedor can swallow that.

Good shit to Bri, for his post on Affliction PPV being Cancelled. I know your just as a big MMA fan as I am.

Enjoy the fights people. August is a big month for MMA. A lot of Good Fights on PPV and TV. I'll post up the upcoming events soon!

Affliction "Trilogy" PPV Cancelled

Well, there went competing with UFC.

The upcoming Affliction PPV has been canceled due to sponsors backing out (no Fedor v Barnett = no money).

Apparently, none of the fighters will be compensated for this. Most may attempt to join UFC, Strikeforce or go to Japan.

In the meantime, Affliction ran back to UFC and again is a sponsor.

Barnett is considering a move to pro wrestling in Japan while he is suspended.

Also, Fedor and UFC contract talks have stalled.

It's a shame really, I think that competition creates the best products (see: WCW v WWE). Instead, UFC remains the only game in town (see: WWE).

Looks like it's back to only seeing Affliction as t-shirts on UFC fighters and buff a$$holes at Vegas clubs.

They Don't Make Songs Like They Used to

My wife and I went to a friend's birthday party Saturday night at Playground, a pretty popular karaoke joint in Japantown.

He invited all his close friends -- about 20 folks in the 25-32 age group. You can bet most of the selections were in line with the demographic; classics from the 90's, even 80's, along with the newest cuts you hear now.

After several rounds of shots and two hours into the festivities, the celebrant got really into it and put on some Tevin Campbell, much to the delight of the ladies -- oh, about a dozen of them.

Naturally the topic of conversation evolved into a desire for the days when love songs were like this, which happens to be one of my all-time favorites:

In the spirit of wedding season, I'd like to hear all your favorite R&B jams. I know Brian can fill this page up with his classics. You know, like H-Town and Mint Condition.
